INVEST TCI TO HOST 2ND ANNUAL ECONOMIC CONFERENCE: THE FUTURE OF FINANCIAL SERVICES IN THE TCI

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, October 9th, 2019 – Invest Turks and Caicos is proud to host its 2nd Annual Economic Conference and first ever national conference in the Turks and Caicos on the future of our financial services industry. Under the theme, Financial Services – Building Block of a Strong Diversified Economy, the one-day event, will be held at Beaches Resort Village & Spa on November 8th and will bring together representatives from the public and private sectors to discuss the importance of our financial services sector.

In 2018, a Government report prepared by an international consultancy team concluded that the Turks and Caicos:

Needed to diversify its economy and create more good quality professional employment opportunities for its citizens
Needed to leverage the considerable national cost of being compliant with international regulations
Needed to invest in our financial services industry, or risk losing what little we have
This conference will bring together the FSC, the private sector including bankers, lawyers, company managers, accountants and Government to debate various topics including why should we grow the financial services sector, What is in it for the nation, and how do we grow the sector to benefit the citizens of this nation and secure good quality employment opportunities.

The conference is divided into two parts, with speeches held in the morning and features International Keynote Speaker, Lorna Smith, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of LGS and Associates and Interim Executive Director, BVI Finance amongst other speakers. The afternoon breakout sessions will provide engaging and enlightening discussions around the industry. The sessions will be facilitated by seasoned industry representatives who will lead the discussion and spark debate on the direction of FS in the TCI. Key points of the discussion will be recorded and lead to the development of an action plan.
