Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, February 22nd, 2023 – Invest Turks and Caicos Agency (Invest TCI) kicked off its calendar of events for the new year by hosting a five-island roadshow to increase awareness of the recent amendments and opportunities available to entrepreneurs and small businesses through the Micro Small Medium Enterprise (MSME) Programme.
Commencing on February 8th, The MSME Roadshow 2023 kicked off on Grand Turk, followed by South Caicos on February 13th, North Caicos and Middle Caicos on February 16th, and concluded on the island of Providenciales on February 20th. The roadshow provided an opportunity for persons to come out and hear directly from Invest TCI and learn about the recent amendments to the MSME Programme, which includes expansion in the qualifying sectors, increases in cash grants depending on the size of the business, further coverage for technical assistance and provision for businesses to access an additional $10k if they meet specific KPIs. Additionally, MSMEs will experience a more streamlined application process with user-friendly forms.
The MSME Roadshow 2023 also provided a refresher on the various benefits and assistance available, the priority areas that qualify, eligibility requirements, and the application process. It allowed the Agency to inform the public on the programme’s progress since inception and address misconceptions.
The roadshow welcomed approximately 100 attendees from across the islands. The attendees were very engaged during the sessions, asking questions and providing feedback and recommendations for improving the programme, which the Invest TCI team was most appreciative of.
Commenting on the roadshow, Alexa Cooper, VP of SME Development, stated, “We would like to thank persons around the islands who took the time out of their busy schedules to attend the roadshow. We hope the new amendments will encourage more entrepreneurs and small businesses to apply to the MSME Programme and take advantage of the benefits and assistance available to them. Our mission is to foster sustainable growth and development for small businesses around the islands. Invest TCI is ready to assist you in taking your business to the next level.”
Cooper further state, “We would also like to thank our partners, the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) of the Turks and Caicos Community College and other small businesses who displayed and were present at the events. We are pleased that Invest TCI can provide a platform for all to flourish.”
Commenting on the event, CEO of Invest TCI, Angela Musgrove, stated, “We would like to express our gratitude to all persons who came out and supported The MSME Roadshow 2023. The MSME Programme continues to grow and has added additional support to recipients and other small businesses through the new Technical Support Unit, which will launch shortly. We aim to support all entrepreneurs and small businesses through business planning and training, counseling, business administration services, and MSME Grant Support Services. We are excited about the opportunities that the programme provides to the small business community and are optimistic about the positive future of the programme as we thrive to create sustainable growth and partnerships for small businesses.”
